Higher Education and Professional Programmes
Welcome to the Teacher Education section where students can find out about the range of Teacher Training and continued professional education opportunities available at Reigate College.
In 2009 Reigate College secured accreditation through the University of Greenwich to run their highly regarded PGCE and PCE Teacher Training Programmes for the post-16 sector. The quality of this provision quickly proved itself, with two of the first intake being awarded the prestigious Garnett prize from the university, in recognition of the quality of their academic work. It has been a remarkable privilege for the College to be involved in the beginnings of so many promising careers in teaching.
Reigate College offers an in-service, two year, part-time Professional Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and Diploma in Education and Training (DET) for the post-16 sector. The College works in partnership with Canterbury Christ Church University to award these programmes and offers a supportive and highly-developed approach to initial teacher training. This focus on education and the support of new teachers, including NQTs, PGCE placement students and trainee teachers, has always been paramount at the College. In addition, the College is part of the Warwick Partnership offering School Direct places. A well-structured and supported approach to mentoring and induction is part of this story, as is working closely with the other top quality sixth form colleges in Surrey.
