32 Year 11s benefit from the College’s Insight Into Oxbridge Event

On Tuesday 7 December, 32 students from four of the College’s Partner Schools: Carrington, de Stafford, Priory CofE and Reigate, attended an Oxbridge twilight session at Reigate College.

Run by Ellen Walkinshaw who heads the College’s Aspire Programme, the session aimed to give the student delegates some useful pointers, while dispelling some of mis-perceptions about Oxbridge stereotypes.

Ellen said, “It’s really important that students don’t rule themselves out of applying for Oxbridge, simply because of some of the myths they may have heard. The session included a Q and A with current and former Oxbridge students, some advice about subject choice at A Level, some tips about pre-application preparation, and then an overview of the Oxbridge support available to them as a student at Reigate College.”

Our thanks to the Partner School staff who accompanied their students. Thanks too to current students Alice Northover and Asma Issa, two of the 22 current Reigate College students who’ve this year received Oxbridge interviews (for entry in September 2022) and former student Gregor Fowler who is currently reading Medicine at Homerton College Cambridge.

10 Reigate College students gained places at Oxford or Cambridge in 2021.
