A lens on the natural world

Congratulations to student Torin G for his winning image as part of a College-wide photography competition celebrating the natural world.

Torin’s charming sleeping fox secured the “Wider World” category and was our overall winner, while Mara’s dreamy landscape secured the “College Campus” category.

Our Wildlife Club Lead, Toby Anderson, who organised the contest and said, “The competition was open to all students, and we were delighted to receive 115 individual entries of a very high standard.  It’s great to see so many young people raising awareness of our natural environment, both on campus and out in the wider world.”

Other special mentions must go to student Arrun M for his flock of flamingos, Blu C’s dog at sunset and Cassie B’s majestic swan.  In a parallel competition for College staff, Criminology teacher Ferne Dower won overall with her close-up image of a bee on clover.

We are most grateful to the British Wildlife Centre in Godstone for donating tickets as prizes for the overall winners.  Both student winners also receive a personalised hoodie.

Toby plans to run the competition again next year, so we encourage students and staff alike to get snapping and share their favourite shots in 2025.
