Would you like to learn more about the ancient world? As part of our Community Outreach Programme, Reigate College will be hosting a Classics taster session – no prior experience needed!

What to expect

The first part of the session will be dedicated to discussing what Classics is. Then, we will examine pieces of art, sculpture and architecture from ancient Greece and discuss the myths and history behind them. Samples from the Archaic to the Hellenistic periods will be explored. The session’s main focus will be on the Acropolis of Athens and will also touch on other famous art works and religious sanctuaries.

You will leave the session with a deeper understanding of Greek mythology and culture and the ways in which these have had a profound impact on our own lives.

Hosted by: Lauren Cox, Classics and Sociology teacher at Reigate College. Lauren has also recently completed a Masters in Classics teaching and heroism with the University of Cambridge.
