From Slavery to Scholarship
Reigate college is proud to host the Black Classicists Exhibition, curated by Michele Valerie Ronnick, Professor of Greek and Latin at Wayne State University. The exhibition has toured extensively in the United States and now, courtesy of Professor Ronnick and Harvard University Press, it has arrived in the UK and is touring UK schools and colleges.
The exhibition celebrates the important role of African Americans in the field of Classics and features extraordinary men and women who paved the way for a new tradition of black intellectualism, resulting in greater opportunities for future generations of African Americans. You can find out more about the exhibition here.
We are keen to share this unique opportunity with our wider community so please join us for an evening event on Tuesday 5th July hosted by our College Course Leader of Classical Civilisation, Sarah Bell.
When: Tuesday 5 July, 7pm-8.30pm
Where: Reigate College
Tickets: £2.50 per person (including tea & coffee).
