Students following our Careers in Health Pathway and our Health and Social Care students met a range of professionals working in the sector at our newly created ‘Meet the Practitioner Day’ on June 10.
Head of Health & Social Care Belinda Jones explained, “We designed the day to give our students a taste of life in a range of jobs all under one roof. A carousel of six sessions throughout the day offered information about routes into further study and work. It was great opportunity to hear from different professionals about the realities of their work, how they support NHS Values and the importance of skills and personal attributes.”
All this was delivered by working professionals including a mental health nurse, a team of paramedics, a nursery manager, a dietitian, and a supported living care worker. Belinda was particularly happy to welcome back past student and Paramedic Greg Smith who worked with her in the run-up to tailor the workshop to our students’ needs.
