Reigate College was delighted to welcome Andrew Hanson, Outreach Manager at National Physical Laboratory, and two NPL apprentices, who came to speak to a group of Physics and Engineering students on Wednesday 16th October.
The highlight of the visit was undoubtedly the team’s arrival in a rare hydrogen-powered Toyota Mirai. As there are only a few such vehicles in the UK, this was a great opportunity to see first-hand the possible future of motoring.
The team’s presentation included topics such as the importance of standardised quantities and NPL’s involvement in the recent change to the definition of a kilogram. There was also the chance to hear about life as an apprentice at NPL.
Our thanks to Andrew and his team for coming in and sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm for Science.
