The College is seeking to appoint enthusiastic and hardworking Teaching Assistants / Learning Facilitators to join the College’s Learning Support Department. The successful applicants will be required to work with staff and students on a variety of college courses to support student learning, as well as on a one-to-one or small group basis.
There are 2 posts available both of which are available from 2 January 2024:
1. A permanent, full-time, term-time only basis (39 weeks per year)
2. A fixed-term, full-time, term-time only basis (39 weeks per year) until 5 July 2024.
The hours of work for both posts are 8.45am to 4.15pm, Monday to Friday, with a 45-minute unpaid lunch break each day (79.34%).
Previous experience of working with teenagers is desirable, but not essential. The post holders will spend a significant amount of the working day interacting with students, including covering lessons, so the ability to feel confident in the presence of and communicating with young adults is essential. The roles require an appreciation of working within an educational context supporting learning.
The post holders will be required to work with students with mild to complex learning needs. Whilst experience in this area is desirable, a basic appreciation is essential. The posts require commitment and flexibility in the approach to work, with the ability to remain calm at all times. You will be required to attend our 3 Open Evenings in the autumn term for which time off in lieu will be given.
The Department is housed in the Priory Building in a purpose-built centre that includes quiet working areas, desktop computers and one-to-one spaces. The Department has access to mobile learning devices and specialist software to further enhance learning.
The Department is a large and friendly team who work in a co-operative and flexible manner. Strong emphasis is given to mutual support by the exchange of ideas and materials.
The salary for the posts is from £18,099.83 to £19,124.91 per annum (FTE £22,813 to £24,105).
