Learning Support

Reigate College is committed to inclusive education. All students are given the opportunity to make the most of their individual skills and abilities. Help and advice is provided by teachers and Personal Tutors, with extra, specialist support provided if needed.

Reigate College Local Offer

Frequently asked questions about how students are supported at Reigate College can be found here.  This forms part of the Surrey SEND county-wide local offer (summarising all services available to students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities).

The Supported Learning Centre is based on the first floor of the Priory building. The Department has qualified and experienced staff to assess and support:

  • students with learning difficulties or disabilities
  • students for whom English is not a first language
  • students with a physical or sensory disability
  • students with any medical condition which may affect their learning

Learning Facilitators are allocated to departments to provide extra support in lessons.

The Supported Learning Centre is open from 9.00 am to 4.15 pm, Monday to Friday (term-time only) and provides a quiet and friendly atmosphere in which students can work. Staff are always on hand to give advice to any student who feels they need additional help with their studies.

Students who have a recognised learning difficulty e.g. dyslexia, can be reassessed for Access Arrangements in exams and any student concerned about their literacy can make an appointment to be assessed for a Specific Learning Difficulty. Information and advice is also provided to students wishing to apply for the Disabled Students’ Allowance when they go to university.

Students should send an accompanying letter with their application form, which should outline any special needs or requirements they may have. They should also take the opportunity to discuss these requirements during their College interview.
