Hello and welcome to Reigate College’s Music Department.
My name is Kate Swan and I’m the Head of Music.
I’m pleased you’ve chosen to study BTEC Music (Performing) at Reigate College and I’m looking forward to welcoming you in person to our friendly team at the beginning of the academic year. With wonderful resources, talented fellow musicians, enthusiastic staff and lots of performance opportunities waiting for you – you can be sure you’ve made the right decision to study Music at the College.
In preparation for you joining the course and to maintain your music skills, I’d like you to complete a series of activities over the coming months. I hope you enjoy working through them.
All tasks should be completed by Choices Day on 25 August.
The tasks will be released here in three phases:
Explore your Subject – 4 May
As you won’t be able to come into College for your Music audition this year, we would like you to work on your audition materials at home and then send them to us by 1 June, as your ‘Explore your Subject’ tasks for Music (Performance) BTEC Level 3.
Please make sure you label your files for both tasks with your full name before submitting them via the folder link below.
The Biography should make reference to your musical skills and experiences and how you see your life as a musician developing once you start at Reigate College (and beyond if you see Music as a future career path).
Please submit your Biography at the same time as your Performance Video – via the folder link above – and label all files with your name in the title.
Please include each of the following in your biography:
How long you have been playing instrument / instruments?
What made you want to study Music?
What are you inspirations / influences?
What musical experiences do you have? Performing live, recording, playing with a band as a solo artist or composer?
How do you see your life as a musician developing once you start at Reigate and beyond?
What do you want to take away from the BTEC Music (Performance) course?
You should complete this section of tasks by 1 June.
