On Thursday the 12th January the English department took students from the A Level English Language & Literature course to the National Theatre in London to see a new production of Othello, a play they are studying as part of their A Level syllabus. The production was a great success: a thrilling and modern re-imagining of Shakespeare’s tragedy with some inventive stage effects and phenomenal acting. Seeing this production has given students a new perspective on the play, particularly in how it addresses the important social themes of race, class and power.
