What attracted you to doing the Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award?
It might seem like a lot of additional work but in practice you can use some of what you already do outside College for different DofE Gold sections. For example I used fencing for my ‘Physical’ section and just set specific goals for it, as I was already training every week.
It also gets you to start new things like ‘Volunteering’, which can be really enjoyable if you choose something that interests you – such as conservation or sports coaching of some kind.
What would you say to anyone considering doing the Award?
I think it’s extremely worthwhile as there are many skills you will develop in order to complete it. Not only do these skills make you a better, more independent person but they also make you a more attractive employee – greatly benefiting any career path.
What are your plans for the future?
I am hoping to follow in my sister’s footsteps and study Medicine at university.
