What subjects did you study at Reigate?
I came to Reigate College from Warwick School and did A Levels in Sociology, Psychology and Law.
What have you been doing since you left?
I had a great time at College but I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted to do afterwards. All I knew was that I didn’t want to go to university like a lot of my friends.
When I spotted the blurb about Nestle’s new sponsored graduate programme in the College’s Student Bulletin, I applied immediately.
The Nestle sponsored programme offers A Level students the opportunity to gain a BA (Hons) Degree in Business over three years – with six weeks study at Sheffield Hallam University a year and the rest of the time working at the Nestle offices in either Gatwick or York, with a starting salary of £17K.
The first stage of the application process involved submitting an online application and I also had to complete an online situational test. There were over 300 applicants but luckily I was one of the successful candidates to be invited to the next stage at an assessment centre. The day was quite nerve racking and involved an interview, presentations and a group meeting. I was absolutely over the moon when they phoned me a few weeks later to offer me one of the 12 places available on the new scheme.
I started at the Nestle offices in Gatwick in September and so far I’m loving every minute. For the first two years I’ll have the opportunity to work across Marketing, Sales, HR and the Supply Chain area. After two years I’ll have to choose one area that I’d like to focus on in my third year.
My first assignment has been in the Marketing Department where I’ve been involved with the Nescafe brand, which has been great fun. I feel so lucky to have found this opportunity, where after three years I’ll have a BA (Hons) Degree, loads of work experience and no debt. After the three years I’m committed to staying on with Nestle for two years but at the moment I can’t imagine ever wanting to leave!
