What made you choose Reigate College?
I wanted a change – I’d been at quite a small school and I wanted to come somewhere with a wide variety of opportunities, subjects and people. I didn’t really know Reigate at all and was surprised just how big the College is.
What’s been the best thing about the Intermediate Programme?
I really liked being able to pick from courses that I felt would support my future. I enjoyed learning about money and finance in Business and in Public Services, I’ve seen my assignments improve from low Merits with lots of re-drafts to getting Distinction*.
In the future, I want to do something that helps people, so having Health & Social Care as a choice here was brilliant. The teachers are wonderful and they encourage you to be independent but also follow up to make sure you get things done.
At first I wasn’t sure about doing an extra year – I was worried that I would feel left out as some of my friends came and started in the Lower Sixth. However, even though I’m quite shy I made new friends at College and so was quite at peace with it. In the end it felt like a weight had been lifted and I was happier and more content as a result.
I’ve also been awarded two Principal’s Awards for my contribution to Business and Public Services, which I’m really proud about.
Tell us about any activities you are involved with outside of lessons
I’ve really enjoyed being part of the Dance Club. It’s been great fun and I’ve been able to perform in a range of productions, including the yearly Hot Feet show.
What subjects are you going to study on the Level 3 Programme at College?
If I get the results I’m hoping for, I’m planning to stay on and study for two BTECs – Health & Social Care and Business – plus A Level Art, something I really enjoy.
