How did you find the move from school to College?
The transition was difficult in the first couple of weeks, due to the larger volume of independent work, but I very quickly found a routine that worked well for me and became comfortable in the College environment.
It didn’t take long to make friends with a variety of different people in my classes. The social transition has been great. I feel the change was beneficial and the way the workload is structured is a great intermediate step for university.
Tell us about any College Enrichment activities you’ve been involved in outside lessons.
The MVD Programme (for Medics, Vets and Dentists) has been exceptionally useful in helping me decide on Veterinary Medicine, supporting my early application and encouraging me to undertake work experience in both a clinical and non-clinical setting.
Some of the MVD sessions were used to research, reflect and present on these experiences, which in turn helped me improve my communication skills and confidence in independent research – both skills interviewers love to see.
What’s your plan for when you leave College?
After College I’m intending to study Veterinary Medicine at Cambridge (or Veterinary Science at Bristol) with the intention of working in the veterinary profession longer term.
