Reigate College students secure another excellent set of results

A Level students from Reigate College were celebrating today as they received their results. At A Level the pass rate was up from last year to 99.2%.

The College’s BTEC National results are now officially among the top in the country with a 100% pass rate. An incredible 97.5% of the Diploma grades (two A Level equivalents) were high grades (Distinctions or Distinction*). In addition, 88.3% of Subsidiary Diploma grades (one A Level equivalent) were high grades.

Principal Nick Clark commented, “We’re very proud of all of our students, who’ve achieved tremendous results, despite the significant changes to the A Level exams. They’ve all been rewarded for their hard work, with so many now moving onto their first choice universities including Oxford and Cambridge.

With so many students achieving at the highest possible level it’s difficult to single out individuals.

Results Day 2017

Laura Zander (pictured left) achieved two A*s and an A grade will be taking up a place at Exeter University to study Business and Management. Sasha Munn (centre) got two A*s and an A grade and will be heading to UCL to read Economics in September 2018. Maisie Chamberlain (right) got two As and a B and is taking a year out before going to study Politics & International Relations at Nottingham University. Noah Stevenson achieved two A*s and two As grades and will be heading to Imperial College to study Computer Science.

Laura thanked the College’s staff for their help and support and Sasha added, “The College is a great place to learn as the teachers are all specialists in their subjects and push you to achieve.

The College is proud of its impressive record of getting students onto MVD courses (Medicine, Veterinary Science and Dentistry), with a few examples from this year’s cohort including Sandro Pietrunti (Medicine), Ailish Redmond (Dentistry) and Hannah Parker (Veterinary Science).

Reigate College’s Oxbridge success stories continue to shine including Amelia Hills (two A*s, and two A grades) will be heading off to Cambridge to study Classics.  She will be joined by Elliot Scott (four A*s and an A), who will be studying Natural Sciences at Cambridge and Jake Wren (A*, two A grades and a B) who will be reading Anglo Saxon, Norse at Cambridge.  Ben Elliott (three A*s and an A) now has an unconditional place at Oxford to study Maths and Philosophy.

The ability to mix and match A Levels with BTEC courses provides a unique environment of success. Zara Munday who came up through the College’s Intermediate Programme and achieved a Distinction * in BTEC Health & Social Care (one A Level equivalent) and Distinction * in BTEC Sport (two A Level equivalent).  Zara will be taking up a place to study Sport & Exercise Therapy at university in Southampton.  Ryan Butler also excelled in his BTEC courses gaining Distinction* in both Sport and Public Services and a Distinction in Music Practitioners (Performing).

Results Day 2017

Ben Clark (pictured left) who’s off to study Jazz Guitar at the Leeds Conservatoire said, “I felt so nervous waiting for the results.  It’s such a relief when you know you’ve got what you need to get you to the next stage.” Dylan Powell (right) who is going to Portsmouth University to study Civil Engineering added, “I’m very happy with my results.  I’m going to my first choice uni and have had a brilliant time during my two years at College.

When asked about the secret of Reigate’s success, Nick Clark commented, “Students can choose the right combination of subjects for them, taught by specialist sixth form teachers. As a result, they are able to thrive in the supportive adult environment we create, which provides the perfect transition between school and university or employment.
