Congratulations to Upper Sixth student Sophie Tarling who has recently returned from competing in the 2018 Cheerleading World Championships in Florida.

Sophie first tried cheerleading in 2012 when friends invited her to a trial session and has been doing it ever since. Earlier this year she was selected for the Surrey Starlets Amethyst team – the team chosen to represent Britain in the international competition at the famous ESPN Wide World of Sports complex.

During the competition, the Surrey Starlets made it to the semi-finals in the Level 5 division where they gave their best performance of the season against over 40 other teams. Sophie summed up the experience as “Amazing!”

Sophie is studying BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diplomas in Business and Sport and the Accredited Fitness and Gym Instruction course here at College. She says, “My dream is to become a Personal Trainer and be placed in the next Cheerleading World Finals.” We wish her well for the future.
