Year 10 MVD Taster Programme, for aspiring Medics, Vets and Dentists

Year 10 students from across the College’s partner schools, have had the opportunity to engage with the College’s Lower Sixth (Year 12) MVD students, during a  4 week ‘Medics, Vets and Dentists Taster Programme’ run by Liz Sanders, Associate Director (Pathways), and head of the  College’s MVD and Careers in Health Programmes.

Liz explained, “The College runs two pathways – one for aspiring ‘Medics, Vets and Dentists’ and one for other ‘Careers in Health’, including Nursing, Midwifery, Paramedic Science and Physiotherapy.  Ahead of starting at the College, some students may feel that pursuing these routes are out of reach for them, and so my focus for the four week MVD Taster Programme is to help participants realise that with the right preparation, application and exam results, MVD careers can most definitely be within their grasp. As ever, the support from our Lower Sixth students has been unanimous and invaluable, and their willingness to give back to the programme is a reflection of their appreciation of the support they were given, when they were Year 10s.’

The programme, which covers: Motivation and suitability to become a Doctor, Vet or Dentist; Systems of the human body in health and disease (including anatomy and dissection) and Health campaigns and ethics – is designed to help inspire Year 10 students to become Medics, Vets or Dentists in the future.
