A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Globe

On Wednesday 28 June the English department took 40 students to see A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Globe theatre in London, relating to their unit on Shakespearean comedy. The play was a great success and certainly lived up to its glowing reviews. A decidedly dark take on the play, this production had sinister fairies in costumes inspired by English folklore. There was of course a lot of humour too, and the actors were able to draw many stunned gasps and raucous laughs from the full audience. With the summery weather and the fantastic atmosphere, this was a memorable evening that the students loved.
