Students choose a Career Pathway at enrolment, and most of these start in the Spring Term of the Lower Sixth and continue through the Upper Sixth year.

Pathway sessions are timetabled and run in addition to weekly tutorials and course lessons. Students wishing to change their pathways for their Upper Sixth, do so on Progression Day in June.

The list of Career Pathway options is constantly being reviewed, based on student demand and College resources, but in 2025-2026 included:

  • Applying for Apprenticeships
  • Architecture
  • Art & Design
  • Biosciences
  • Chemistry
  • Careers in Health
  • Computer Science & IT
  • Film
  • Humanities & Languages
  • Law
  • Maths
  • Media & Marketing
  • Music
  • Medicine, Veterinary Science and Dentistry (MVD)
  • Oxbridge
  • Performing Arts
  • Psychology

As an alternative to opting for a specialist Career pathway, students can select a skills-based short course (usually lasting around 6 weeks) such as Digital Skills, Carbon Literacy and Emergency First Aid. These lead to a recognised qualification.

In the Upper Sixth, all students pick one of two mandatory generic tutorial pathways:

  •  University
  •  Apprenticeship & Employment

Students wishing to apply for both university and apprenticeships should join the University pathway but will have access to a suite of apprenticeship and employment resources.

Offering targeted support, that’s finely tuned each year, results in more and more Reigate College students being offered places at the UK’s most competitive universities, such as Oxbridge, LSE, Durham, Edinburgh and on the most competitive courses, such as PPE, Law, and Music Technology (Tonmeister).

Increasingly, students are being drawn to some really exciting apprenticeship and employment opportunities direct from College, that they first hear about during the ‘App and Emp’ Career Pathway tutorials.
