On 21 November, Architecture apprentice and alumna Lauren Day delivered a talk to the College’s Lower Sixth Product Design (3D Design) students on routes into the profession, the pros and cons of apprenticeships, and what makes a great portfolio.
Lauren was invited in to College ahead of the start of the Lowers Beach Hut project as this project allows students to develop key skills such as working to a brief and modelmaking that are essential for architecture pathways.
Lauren, who is doing her apprenticeship with local firm Reigate Architects, is studying for a BA (Hons) Architectural Assistant degree (Level 6) at London South Bank University while working towards her RIBA Part 1 qualification. In December last year, Lauren was awarded Apprentice of the Year at the Reigate and Banstead Business Awards.
