Upper Sixth Classical Civilisation students enjoyed a trip to The British Museum (March 9) where they were able to view some of the prescribed sources from their course such as the Parthenon Marbles and Tyche’s foot offering.
Head of Classics, Sarah Bell, said, “It all served as excellent revision as there is nothing quite like seeing things “in the flesh”. In addition, visiting the inner sanctum of the Greek and Roman antiquities department, curators Ollie and Kate gave an excellent talk on routes into the heritage sector and shared their own career journeys.”
Students also learnt about the day-to-day jobs involved in keeping objects safe along with more surprising aspects of the job, such as working with the FBI to recover stolen objects.
