Reigate College Classical Civilisation Department wins “Sixth Form College of the Year” award

On Friday 27 June Head of Classics and Philosophy at the College Sarah Bell and Classics teacher Lauren Cox attended a prize-giving at the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds, in recognition of their department receiving a

“Sixth Form College of the Year” award, in the Classics for All Impact awards 2025. See https://classicsforall.org.uk/news-and-events/events/impact-awards-2025

The charity “Classics for All” offers teachers flexible support to introduce or develop a classical subject sustainably on the curriculum.  Sarah Bell and colleagues initially worked with the charity, as a means of introducing a Beginners’ Latin course as an optional, additional course for Reigate College students.

The recent award is a mark of the department’s achievement in going ‘above and beyond,’ to raise students’ aspirations and success in this fascinating and important subject area.
