Congratulations to Sophie P, Lower Sixth 3D Design student and winner of our annual beach hut design competition. Once again, we were delighted to welcome local architect Jhonnatan Jaramillo from Reigate practice WS Planning & Architecture (WSPA) as an independent judge.
Jhonnatan commented, “Sophie told a clear story, backing up a great design with brilliant sketches and good awareness of scale. Her ‘less is more’ approach demonstrated clear thinking about the space and what it offers the person experiencing it.
“She also brought real thoughtfulness to sustainability considerations, identifying suitable materials recycled from ocean waste.”
Sophie wins a week’s in-person work experience with WSPA, while our two runners-up, Ewan S and Sophia P, win a day’s work experience each.
Thanks to Head of 3D Design and Engineering Rebecca Degiorgio and her team for running the competition, which acts as a ‘warm-up’ for formal coursework assessments in the Upper Sixth.
