Innovations in Biosciences, Medicine and Chemistry Prize 2026

Congratulations to everyone who produced posters for the Innovations in Biosciences, Medicine and Chemistry Prize 2026. A huge thank you to our judging panel, including invited judge Dr Lisi Meira, Senior Lecturer in the School of Biosciences at the University of Surrey, and our resident academics Dr Haitham Hussain PhD and Mr Jonas Nohturfft MBiol. The quality of submissions was very high this year, making the judges’ decisions particularly challenging.

After much deliberation, the overall prize was awarded to the Mistral-A group: Denvik Dodds, Olinda Fernandes, AJ Thakur, Dhriti Sharma and Timothy Lu. Dr Meira was particularly impressed by the strength of the group’s academic content. Their poster will now be submitted for the Imperial Science and Medicine Lung Prize. Each team member will receive a £10 Amazon voucher and a Reigate College winner’s certificate.

The following teams also won their respective categories and have been selected for submission to the Imperial Science and Medicine Prize:

  • PulsePrint – British Heart Foundation Cardiovascular Prize
  • OsteoSense – Cancer Research UK Convergence Science Centre Prize
  • Genetically Modified Natural Fertiliser – Global Health Prize
  • WellMindED – South London Partnership Mental Health Contest

Meanwhile, Chemistry teacher Dan Jackson said: “Many thanks to all the chemistry students who took part in the Sustainability in Chemistry Poster Prize as part of their Chemistry Pathway. The standard of the posters was very high, making the choice of winner very difficult. The winning poster, Fly Zero, was created by Charlie Nelson, Abigail Hodgson and Mila Mavronicolas. We were particularly impressed by their detailed understanding of hydrogen embrittlement and how it presents a significant challenge to the use of hydrogen as an alternative fuel. Well done!”

Congratulations to all who took part, and good luck to those progressing to the next stage.
