Local employers support early careers

Around 420 students and their parents/guardians connected with 25 local businesses at our annual ‘Meet the Employer’ evening (April 28).

Associate Director of Careers Natalie Holmes said, “We are fortunate to be based in an area that has a real range of sectors – from professional services and leisure through to life sciences and law and more. Getting your first job can be daunting so understanding what’s on offer locally is a great place for our young people to start building their career.”

More than 150 signed up for a careers talk during the evening. The College’s Head of Careers Advice and Employability, Carolyn Langford, focused on the very modern issue of navigating AI in recruitment processes alongside Julie Sarwal from the Department for Work and Pensions, who spoke about the most sought-after employability skills.

New and existing employer relationships were also strengthened at a pre-event networking session for the College’s teaching staff.

Huge thanks to all the employers and providers that had a stand and chatted to our Lower and Upper Sixth students and their parents: MTE Employers, Alternative Airlines, Apsida Life Sciences, Buxton Building Contractors, Crate Jacobs, DHA Planning, Dorking Healthcare, Downs Solicitors, Huntley Cartwright, Leo Academy Trust, Lloret, Macro, Plan Insurance Brokers/North Downs Insurance Institute, Priory Law, Reigate Manor Hotel, RSM, Kids Club Family, SGN, Sonin, Sussex & Surrey Institute of Technology, Surrey Energy Centre, Unilever, Unum, WSPA, WTW and YMCA.
