How to stand out and navigating AI in recruitment practices were just two of the hot topics for this year’s Apprenticeship and Employment panel event (23 September).
Four past students shared their highs and lows with Upper Sixth students and their parents and guardians as they begin the work to secure an opportunity that’s right for them.
Ellen Walkinshaw, Director (Progression and Skills) said, “Now in its fourth year, the event offers both practical information and valuable insights as our students navigate their choices after College.
“While the job market is undoubtedly challenging, with the right support, students can build the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed for success. Our 2026 leavers secured competitive opportunities with employers ranging from British Airways and Fidelity International to Pfizer and Rathbones thanks to their hard work and engagement with our apprenticeship support.”
Carolyn Langford, Careers and Employability Lead, added, “We continue to evolve our Apprenticeship and Employment Pathway so that it remains responsive to both the current market and student feedback.
“Alongside information, the Pathway also hones resilience, builds networking skills and supports students to develop their professional online presence.”
Kate Oake, Alumni Coordinator, said, “I’d like to extend my wholehearted thanks to our excellent panellists Ben Littlefield, Connie Tomkins, Elliott Cheung and Luke Major for giving their time and hard work. They did a fantastic job answering audience questions with real humour, humility and honesty across all three sessions.”
Thanks to all our staff who made the event possible, especially our skilled Careers team who offered one-to-one information and support at the informal networking session that ran throughout the evening.
