Last night (25 September) we were delighted to welcome over 300 Upper Sixth students and parents to our Apprenticeship and Employment Pathway launch.
Alumni Coordinator Kate Oake explains, “Central to the event is a live Q&A with six past students who are doing, or have completed, different apprenticeships. This ran three times during the evening enabling us to invite a large audience.
“I am constantly impressed not only by the willingness of our alumni apprentices to support our current students, but also by their professionalism and confidence as young people sharing their experiences.”
Our audience quizzed the panel on everything from how to navigate applications and deal positively with rejection through to the ins and outs of studying while working and having a social life while doing it.
In addition, Direction of Progression Ellen Walkinshaw outlined the support on offer at the College before members of the Careers team and senior tutors spent time giving further information and talking informally to attendees after each session.
Huge thanks to our panellists Aramide Tinubu, Ben Dillon, Izzy Ross, Jamie Smith, Lucia Schifano and Matthew Major for speaking so openly and eloquently at each of the sessions after busy days at work.
Thanks also to all our staff involved in making this evening such a success.
