Charity pop-ups support students

Every three weeks, we invite local charity partners and agencies into College to highlight the available support for our students.

Our most recent visitors were from Papyrus – a specialist charity focused on the prevention of young suicide.  Ho Yen and her volunteer set up a lunchtime stall and then visited tables of students in the Refectory to talk about their amazing work promoting positive mental health and emotional wellbeing in young people.

On a previous visit, we were joined by Ami from Action for Carers Surrey. Ami chatted to our students about the free, impartial information and support that’s available to young carers that can help to minimise the impact of their caring role.

While the charity is there for all those with caring responsibilities, its young carers division supports under 18s who help to look after family members. They also play a vital role in giving young carers time out from caring and help them reach their full potential.
