Engineering and Physics students gained a bird’s eye view of life as Chief Engineer on the recent Elizabeth Line build.  Chris Binns, who runs his own specialist engineering consultancy, explained his oversight role for many aspects of Crossrail including the rail systems, mechanical, electrical and public health systems, architecture and, of course, civil engineering. 

Chris touched on different disciplines within engineering and illustrated the wealth of career paths within the rail industry, helping our students consider their next steps in STEM and where they might like to specialise. Thank you, Chris, for delivering such an informative and fascinating visit.
