Earlier this term, Lower Sixth Engineering students took part in a visit to Gatwick Airport’s STEM Centre where they:
• Participated in two separate workshops, one where they built an electronic car powered by solar panels and a second where they had to work in teams building a demisphere using the process of triangulation.
• Were given a tour around the boiler rooms and behind the scenes at the bag drop to witness how different systems function.
• Attended a talk and Q&A about Gatwick Aiport’s Engineering Apprenticeship Programme.
• Heard a talk given by British Airways Aircraft Engineers.
Head of 3D Design and Engineering at the College Rebecca Degiorgio, said, “The whole day was fantastic and enabled students to use their problem-solving skills whilst giving them an insight into the industry.”
