The College’s annual Equality & Community Day on 22 June gave all Lower Sixth students the chance to have a break from their usual timetables to explore the themes of: ‘Equality, Diversity and Inclusion’, plus enjoy some fun in the sun, as the College year draws to an end.
As well as classroom-based workshops, students got to savour some relaxation time that included being entertained by talented College bands, having fun on inflatables, playing a variety of games on the front lawn (such as giant Jenga and tables tennis), daubing face paints and taking part in a charity raffle. The College’s fabulous catering team once again laid on a mouth-watering barbecue.
The main fundraising effort was for the Redhill-based charity www.include.org that supports people in the local community with disabilities, learning difficulties and communication needs. As well as an assembly from Include, students also had a special performance from the Include choir. £722 was raised that will go directly to the charity to help support their community projects.
Our thanks to everyone involved in organising the day, particularly Rob Walton-Kinghorn, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Officer/ G.C.S.E. English Course Leader.
