Insight into the workplace

Students at John Lewis

A number of College students used the Structured Learning Day on Friday 29th February to gain some valuable experience of the workplace through an insight visit. Here’s a summary of what they did:

• Six students travelled up to John Lewis’s head office in London. They took part in an Innovation Day, run by Jo Garland, Senior Manager at John Lewis, who later reported that they “all had a great day and produced some impressive work.”
• Irwin Mitchell’s Gatwick office welcomed four students, who spent time with current trainees and gained experience working/shadowing in an allocated department
• Eleven students visited Newsquest’s newsroom in Sutton as part of the Young Reporters Scheme (read more here)
• Thirteen students found out more about HR, marketing and roles in the hotel industry in a visit to Reigate Manor Hotel.
