Around 50 Year 11 applicants plus parents/guardians received a warm welcome at our annual Medical Sciences event for would-be doctors, dentists and vets.
Following an overview of the support College students can expect as part of our specialist pathway, our visitors also took part in practical lab sessions and got the chance to quiz our alumni panel at a Q&A.
Liz Sanders, who leads our Medicine, Veterinary and Dental (MVD) Pathway said: “We’re really proud of our track-record in helping our students get offers to study their chosen discipline, and this event was all about showing how our pathway makes sure the critical planning starts early.
“Our applicants’ event aims to give a thorough and honest account of what it takes to apply for, and then be, a successful medical sciences student at university. We know that it can be daunting, so our pathway is designed to support our students every step of the way.”
Events like these wouldn’t be possible without an army of help from our staff and students past and present. So our special thanks go to:
- Our Q&A panel of past students featuring Adam Chatfield (Veterinary, Uni of Surrey), Alex Adams (Medicine, Hull York), Hannah Craig (Medicine, UCL), Khushee Patel (Medicine, UCL) and Taryn Cole (Veterinary, Surrey).
- Current MVD students assisting in the lab sessions: Alexia Z, Ciara R, Emily I, Hannah C, Josette W, Kate B, Mohammed I, Nicole B, Nife S, Ninar R, Noah R, Rhiannon P, Sophie W, Sumaa Y, Tom P.
