The first half of the Autumn Term saw four Upper Sixth students taking part in the 2024 Maths Olympiad for Girls. These were girls who achieved high scores in the UKMT Senior Maths Challenge in their Lower Sixth.
The competition is aimed at girls and young women across the UK and is a 2.5 hours paper that requires students participating to really apply their mathematical ability to a set of 5 challenging problems. Students either receive an award of participation, merit or distinction. The students who participated were Lydia Sollis, Kei Howell, Yasmin Nixon and Holly Jones and between them they achieved two merits and two distinctions.
