Politics Conference

On 24 November, 30 Politics students attended a Politics conference at Methodist Central Hall in London, along with a thousand sixth formers from around the country – the third time in a year Reigate College has participated in this amazing opportunity. Students had the chance to ask tough questions to politicians from all the main political parties and to participate in a political survey run by a reputable polling company.

Attending the PolEcon conference were Green Party leader Zack Polanski, Reform UK’s Richard Tice MP, Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg, Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle and Labour backbench MP Annalise Dodds. The conference highlighted the polarised nature of debate in the UK, with politicians and opinion formers offering widely different visions for the country.

Nick de Souza, Head of Politics at Reigate College, said of the conference: “Reigate College students were able to see first-hand where politicians of all different political parties stand on the political issues of the day. These included discussions on Gaza, on immigration and on the economy. I am proud of our students, who were not afraid to ask tough questions of their political leaders.”
