Politics students from Reigate College met Reigate MP Crispin Blunt and asked tough questions ranging from transgender rights to the future of Liz Truss. The event was part of a wider tour of Parliament where students saw first-hand the work of MPs as they sat in on a House of Commons debate on the cost of living. Our students also enjoyed an impromptu meeting with Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey in Parliament’s central lobby, and then later took part in a democracy workshop.
Nick de Souza, Head of Politics at Reigate College, said: “After the lockdowns and difficulty of attending in-person events, it was lovely to get back to Parliament. I was so proud of our students – they asked thoughtful questions of both Crispin Blunt and Ed Davey. These experiences are vital to help young people understand how our parliament works – they inspire the next generation of young leaders.”
