On Friday 1st July, Lower students from the English Literature course travelled to the Globe Theatre in London to see a production of Shakespeare’s comedy Much Ado about Nothing. The venue was particularly impressive in the warm evening light, and for this production the Globe’s stage had been transformed into an Italian garden with grass, ivy, and a bubbling fountain in the middle of the audience.
The performance itself was light-hearted and frequently hilarious, with plenty of dancing, slapstick humour and crowd interaction. It was a memorable evening, and will have greatly benefitted students in their study of Shakespearean comedy. Thanks attendees for coming along!
