Lower Sixth Daniel Thorpe, a former pupil at The Beacon School, has been working as a ball boy at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships.   

Daniel’s team are working on the outside courts covering up to 5 matches per day.  

The Beacon has been providing ball boys and girls to the Championships since 1990.  When he was in Year 10, Daniel was part of a group of Beacon pupils who passed the initial selection process to attend ball boy training.  He made it through to participate in the Championships in 2022 and was therefore eligible to apply in subsequent years as a ‘recall’.  Having focussed on his studies last year, he chose to re-apply this year and passed his re-trial.  

Daniel is studying Computer Science, Business and Economics at the College.
