As a follow-up to the College’s recent Health and Social Care ‘Meet the Practitioner’ day, 17 students took a closer look at an ambulance service career at SECAMB’s ‘Get Ready Centre’ based in Banstead on 27 June.
Past student Greg Smith once again pulled out all the stops to organise a fantastic morning of hands-on action and talks on career progression.
Belinda Jones, Head of Social Care, said, “Our students tried their hand at CPR, got to grips with suturing wounds and explored the inner workings of an ambulance.
“We also found out about the fascinating work of the Specialist Response Team, which was set up in the aftermath of the London bombings in 2005. The team are trained to an even higher level of skill and accompany fire fighters into particularly challenging emergency scenes.”
Thank you to Greg and all his colleagues for putting together such an action-packed, informative session.
