On Tuesday 11th February, Dr Andreas Gavrielatos, visited A Level Classical Civilisation students to give a talk on Aeneas, the main character in their set text, the Aeneid. Dr Gavrielatos focused on Aeneas’ status as a refugee and related it cleverly to the modern refugee crisis and invited students to think not only about how Aeneas is treated throughout the text as a refugee, but also how we treat refugees today. Students found the talk incredibly thought-provoking.
Dr Gavrielatos is an Assistant Professor in Classics at the University of Reading and is also the Co-director of Careers, Employability and Placements at the university. Our sincere thanks to Dr Gavrielatos for your time and insights.
