College student represents Great Britain in TeamGym Championships

TeamGym Championships

Huge congratulations to Lower Sixth student Anne-Marie Cobb who was chosen to represent Great Britain in the 12th European TeamGym Championships.

Anne-Marie was the youngest member of the GB Senior Mixed squad to compete in the four-day competition held in Portugal in October. The team gave an outstanding performance, finishing in a fantastic fifth place – the best the team has ever done.

As a result, media interest in the team was high and Anne-Marie found herself taking part in a number of publicity events including going into primary schools, filming for promotional videos and signing autographs!

She summed the week up as follows: “This was my first time representing the country and the experience was unreal and like nothing I have ever done before. The whole team was ecstatic with how well it all went.”

Anne-Marie joined the College from the Priory School in Dorking and is studying A Level BusinessPE and English Language & Literature as well as the Certificate in Fitness Instructing. She hopes to represent Great Britain again in the first TeamGym World Championships to be held in Copenhagen in 2020. Her main ambition is to be the youngest gymnast in Great Britain to achieve a Master Gymnast Award, an award given to gymnasts once they have represented the country at three senior European championships.
