Congratulations to 8-Ball Pool player and Lower Sixth student Oldriska D. who was crowned England’s Number 1 U23 and U18 Player this month, just a couple of years into playing the sport.
Oldriska explains, “I first got into pool by playing at a local pub and ended up being scouted for Sussex County! It’s such a sociable game. I love being with people who have the same passion as me but who can still have fun. And it’s great knowing you’ve got people supporting you from behind no matter the result.”
Formerly Sussex’s Junior Captain before moving to Surrey, she now heads up Surrey’s Under 23s. And there are yet more celebrations in progress, as her Surrey Ladies’ team won the 2024 National Championship on November 15.
Oldriska’s sights are now set on January’s England under 18s trials. She comments, “My coach is the Number 1 Ladies Pool World Champion and has been a major part of my journey. I’ll forever be grateful for her and my parents for supporting me.”
Each season runs from February through to November and Oldriska competes with over 1000 junior and under 23 players from the UK and beyond, travelling the country from Brighton to Blackpool. Oldriska previously attended Oakwood School and now studies Business, Law and Criminology at Reigate College.
