On Wednesday 12 February, Chris Turpin, a senior financial services executive with nearly 30 years of experience, delivered an insightful talk to 67 students, offering a behind-the-scenes look at global finance and investment management. Having held leadership roles at PwC, Northern Trust, and as European CEO of First Sentier Investors, Chris brought a wealth of knowledge on how financial markets operate and the major transformations shaping the industry. Now serving as a Non-Executive Director at Baillie Gifford and leading initiatives in fintech, sustainability, and talent development, he shared his unique perspective on the future of finance.

Chris spoke about how technology and sustainability are driving change in the sector and emphasised the importance of financial services becoming more inclusive. He also provided practical advice on different career pathways, key skills for success, and how young professionals can build careers that combine financial expertise with positive impact.
