Insight visit to Kone

Andrew Todd addresses students at Kone, Woking visit

A huge thank you to Andrew Todd, London and South Regional Director at KONE, who on 2 March, led an insight visit for 14 of our A Level Physics and BTEC Engineering students.

Clare Harvey, Careers and Work Experience Administrator at the College explained, “The optional insight visit to Kone’s Woking offices was offered to Lower Sixth Physics and Engineering students to give them a feel for how Kone’s business is run and what career pathways and apprenticeship opportunities are available for post-18s.”

Kone is a Finish company, founded in Helsinki in 1910 that’s now a global leader in the lift and escalator industry, moving two billion people every day, across nearly 70 countries worldwide.

Students listened to short talks from 11 different departments, including: Finance, Sales, Recruitment, Customer Solutions Engineering, Business Development, Commercial Team, Legal, Design, New Business Solutions, Operations and Employee Engagement.

Clare said, “I don’t want to understate the value these kinds of insight visits have to our students.  The visits can be life changing – opening their eyes to possibilities that they may otherwise have been unaware of.”

We’d love to hear from anyone who’s able to offer a work-related insight experience to our students.  Please email workexperience@reigate.ac.uk
