Audiences attending the College’s Spring Concert (March 21) witnessed a cornucopia of sound celebrating musical genres past and present.
New additions to the evening of entertainment were two ensembles: a percussion quintet led by Upper Sixth student Caoimhe L. – who also composed the piece – and a six-strong guitar ensemble who performed a rock and pop set featuring the music of Radiohead and Bon Jovi, led by the Music Department Technician, Sean Boothe.
Head of Music John Evans commented, “It’s been great working with all our musicians’ talents to put together a mixed programme that has something for everyone – whether your taste is Northern Soul or 19th Century Romantic repertoire.
“Our Session Orchestra came together to blend pop vocals with classical instruments such as the violin, cello and French horn to brilliant effect. It was also fantastic to see both staff and students rehearsing and performing alongside each other throughout the programme.”
Thank you to everyone involved for working so hard to put on an uplifting, impressive show.
