Reigate College hosted its annual Politics lecture last night, Tuesday 26th November.
Head of Politics, Nick de Souza, spoke to a full audience of current and prospective students and their parents about the state of UK democracy and why it needs reforming. He covered topics such as proportional representation v first past the post; a codified v an uncodified constitution; the role of the referendum in democracy; compulsory voting; lowering the voting age; and the possible impact of the December General Election on Brexit. Following his talk, there was a lively question and answer session covering a wide variety of areas.
For anyone who missed out, there’s a chance to hear from Nick on some of these topics and more through his online A Level Politics Show.
The evening was a great introduction into Politics for Year 11 students and an opportunity for them to chat to existing students about studying Politics at Reigate College.
