Reigate College was delighted to host the Surrey schools Boccia Tournament today, Tuesday 22nd January.
Boccia is an inclusive disability sport played across the country, both at local and national level, and also features in the Paralympic Games.
Over 60 players took part in today’s competition which was run and refereed by the College’s Sports Leaders. In preparation for this, the ten Sports Leaders completed a Boccia Officiating course on 15th January. Many of them were not previously familiar with the sport, but by the end of the course, they had learnt how to officiate competently.
Representatives from Boccia England commented, “Some of the students showed exceptional talent and picked up how to officiate very quickly. They could definitely referee at the National competition.”
Later this year they will travel to Guildford to officiate at the Regional finals.
Our thanks to everyone involved.
