On 16 November 32 mainly Lower Sixth A Level Further Maths students took part in a trip to the Emmanuel Centre in London, organised by Education in Action. Experienced speakers guided students through a range of topics, from Topology of Mobius Strips to the History and Maths of 3 sets of Spiral graphs, and from the famous Fermat’s Last Theorem (finally proved only about 30 years ago) to the mathematics of producing images of the inside of our bodies for medical diagnostic purposes. The event provided the students with opportunities to discuss mathematics with their peers and explore new ideas.
In addition to the interactive sessions, students took part in an exam masterclass aimed at providing them with strategies and tips for approaching and solving problems commonly found in A Level Maths and Further Maths exams.
