Our sincere thanks to Oliver Bromley who took the time to visit Reigate College and talk to 32 students participating in the Medics, Vets and Dentists (MVD) Programme about his work as a patient advocate for the rare disease Neurofibromatosis.
Oliver spends time campaigning for increased awareness of visible and facial differences, while also working for the NHS as a Crisis Line Healthcare lead.
Liz Sanders, who runs the College’s MVD Programme said, “This was a great opportunity for students to gain an insight into living with a visible difference and hear first-hand how the condition has impacted Oliver’s life and mental health and understand some of the issues he’s had to face with navigating healthcare options.”
“As well as sharing information about the disease itself, Oliver also gave insights into what he’s valued most from those looking after his health.”

After his visit Oliver said, “I was impressed by the warmth and compassion shown by the students and look forward to seeing them as the next generation of healthcare practitioners.”
